December 14, 2015 – Linda Katz, CEO of Molded Dimensions, Inc., has been named the Rubber & Plastics News 2015 Rubber Industry Executive of the Year. This award is given to an executive in the North American rubber product industry who has led his or her company to success and further helped the industry. Originally nominated by Paul Allar of J.E. Shireling Co., Linda holds the special honor as the first woman to be chosen for this distinguished award. Regarding the award, Linda said, “Wow! Thank you very much to the kind staff at Rubber and Plastics News for this great honor for me and for the wonderful team at Molded Dimensions.” Linda has accomplished much in her career. After attending Duke University and then Harvard Business School, Linda launched her career initially working for General Electric Company and then Cummins, Inc. In 2001, Linda purchased 63% of Molded Dimensions’ stock from Jay E Meili, long-time owner. As part of the acquisition, Linda facilitated the employee purchase of the stock balance utilizing an Employee Stock Ownership Plan, giving each and every employee a stake in the company. Molded Dimensions is ISO9001:2008 registered and a certified Woman’s Business Enterprise (WBE) molder of custom rubber and cast polyurethane components for OEM and aftermarket manufacturers. Under Linda’s direction, Molded Dimensions has more than doubled its domestic manufacturing output, constructed a second building on the current Port Washington, WI site to house their cast urethane division, started providing molded rubber product from worldwide manufacturers, added tool making capabilities, and most importantly as she says, “instilled in all, from the top manager to the person molding rubber components on third shift, the importance of making Molded Dimensions a place where great people choose to work.” The driving philosophy, “a place where great people choose to work”, is one of three company initiatives contributing to the success at Molded Dimensions. Great people manufacture great product, and with this great product, great customers are drawn to Molded Dimensions. This philosophy grew legs early on during her career at Molded Dimensions when she recognized it was the people around her influencing the day-to-day achievements that truly add up to the overall business success and on-going progress. Outside the day-to-day business operations, Linda is currently Secretary/Treasurer of the Polyurethane Manufacturers Association. She is also involved in many community activities in Whitefish Bay, WI, where she lives with her husband Mike Katz and their three sons.
